What a great day I had recently when I took part in a ‘Marwell Internationa Wildlife art Society’ workshop at Rookesbury Park in Wickham. There was 40 artists being tutored by 5 professional wildlife artists, what an experience and not just one but 5 in one day.
The artists were Pip McGarry, Vic Bearcroft, Kim Thompson, Claudia Hahn and Jamie Boots, the hour we spent with each artist was very useful, even though they were all quite different with how they work, each one made helpful and valid points which i have brought back with me to work on.
I have been working on a Meerkat and found that I had got a little side-tracked, so this was a good way for me to push myself back into it and now with fresh eyes and some helpful tips I’m keen to get back to it, hopefully it won’t be too long before I post it in my gallery.
Not only getting advice and tips on our work from the pros but to mix with the other artists was great too, I always find it fascinating how other artists work, how they handle different mediums and the materials they use, (looks like I have a art shopping trip to plan very soon). The ‘question time’ at the end of the painting session was a bonus, chance to ask the pros questions from framing to marketing etc… A enjoyable days painting with some new friends and great artists!
